About

Artery 24 has been a driving force in the Minneapolis/St. Paul art scene for two years, 2010 marks the next phase of the event’s evolution; Artery 24 becomes Artery. Artery 2010 takes time to play with time, allowing the audience to engage with the performers over a series of four evenings within The Soap Factory, a veritable laboratory for emerging contemporary art, located in a historic warehouse space. Artery’s performing artists are invited to consider: physical space, time, personal/historical perspectives and collaborative interactivity. The original premise of the event was derived from circulatory systems in human life (roads, travel, city planning) and how they can be akin to the structures of the body and natural phenomena such as the Mississippi. Inspiration also came from a 16thC festival featuring visual artists, performers and musicians in Rome. Artery 2010 continues to draw inspiration from these origins, while providing a collaborative and open opportunity for emerging performance artists to show new work.
